On Saturday, May 13, 2006, I will be performing an original, one-woman, 12-minute piece called “How Are We Feeling Today?” as part of the second annual event called THE BIG C in Los Angeles, CA. Curated by actor/writer/producer/entrepeneur and all-’round creative Light, Christian Meoli, THE BIG C invites people who are in the midst of a cancer experience to share their journey, the highs and lows and everything in between, through the infinite well of creative expression performance. (I also had the pleasure of performing in the first annual THE BIG C event and happily accepted the invitation to perform again this year!)

“How Are We Feeling Today?” was lovingly directed by the talented Jason Schuler, who took me on a guided tour of my own experience through verbal and written stream-of consciousness exercises, and together we developed a structure through which I could share my journey in a unique and engaging way. Divided into six parts —  six milestone moments I experienced along the way — and presented in first person, present-tense voices (my live voice and two of my “inner voices” via voiceover recordings) and choreographed gestures & movements with just a chair and me, myself, and I, the piece brings the audience inside my experience of ovarian cancer. I am so grateful for his vision and compassion in developing such a beautifully vulnerable and powerful intimate space in which to express and share my journey.

Soooo . . . if you are in the L.A. area, come on by for some inspiration information and good vibes all ’round.
